Richard Basset Of Basset Direct Dies
TORONTO—
Richard Basset was Born in Truro, Cornwall, UK, Rich immigrated to Canada as a young boy with his family, settling in Ottawa. After graduating from Ryerson's Print Management program, Rich became Partner and President of Yorkville Press before merging with Maclean Hunter. In 1994 Rich Basset founded Basset Direct, which specialized in high-impact and personalized marketing campaigns, and produces oversized and multi-panel brochures, self-mailers, pop-ups and custom formats.
The company started with 3 employees and grew to over 40 . Clients include leading financial institutions, advertising agencies, not-for-profit organizations and loyalty companies. Basset Direct was the first company in Canada to install a Xeikon 8600 roll to sheet digital printer. He was honoured with the Direct Marketer of the Year Award, the Canadian Marketing Association's Lifetime Achievement Award and Honorary Life Membership. In 2016 St. Joseph Communication acquire direct marketing service and variable printing programs provider Bassett Direct. His son Ted later followed his father into the printing industry, beginning his career at Bassett Direct.
