Canfor's Northwood Pulp Mill in Prince George B.C. and Finch Paper's mill in Glens Falls, New York. Canfor said in the pulp and paper sector continues to face significant challenges, including a structural shift in global pulp markets. It also said persistent challenges accessing fibre have resulted in a prolonged period of unsustainable financial losses for Canfor Pulp. The closure will reduce annual Northern Bleached Softwood Kraft pulp production by about 300,000 tonnes and there will be about 300 job losses.

As paper prices come down more mill keep closings
Finch Paper is closing down their pulp mill and will be will buy pulp on the open market. Finch said the change will allow it to focus on the core of its business, which is producing paper.
Announcements about paper mill shutdowns has become a regular  occurrence with Stora Enso, Canford, Island Papers , Arjowiggins, UPM, International Paper, Smurfit Westrock and Domtar have announced mill or machine shut downs in the last several years.
