MONCTON, NEW BRUNSWICK— Postmedia is shutting down its Moncton, N.B., printing facility, meaning most newspapers in the province will have to be outsourced for printing. Pressman and union leaders  received the news Tuesday that the facility in the former Times & Transcript building on Main Street will be closing. Seven unionized press employees and 35 non-union distribution employees are effected. Postmedia said the closure wouldn’t impact the journalists and was informed the digital and print versions of the Postmedia-owned publications would continue. Irving-owned New Brunswick newspapers to be sold to Postmedia in 2022. In June Postmedia pulled pulled out of the flyer distribution. Postmedia has had declining revenue for years and is heavily in debt. They have tried to cut back expenses but have continued losses. They are still the largest newspaper chain in Canada.
