—  The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released the August 2026 Printing-Writing Monthly report. According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 7% in August compared to August 2025. Total printing-writing paper inventory levels increased 1% when compared to July 2026. Across the 3 major printing-writing categories — uncoated free sheet (UFS), coated free sheet (CFS), and mechanical (MECH) — net imports increased 26% in July compared to the same month last year. Individually, UFS increased 38%, CFS increased 51%, while MECH net imports increased 13%. No information is available on the Canadian market but the Canada usually follows the U.S. market. With the expected Canadian tariffs  the relationship between the Canadian and US markets may change.
