Printing-Writing Paper Shipments Decreased
—
The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA) released the July 2026 Printing-Writing (printing papers) Monthly report. According to the report, total printing-writing paper shipments decreased 9% in July compared to July 2025. Using the latest trade data available from the U.S. Census Bureau, purchases of total printing-writing papers showed little change in June compared to the same month last year.
Across the 3 major printing-writing categories — uncoated free sheet (UFS), coated free sheet (CFS), and mechanical (MECH) — U.S. shipments in July showed negative results when compared to the same month last year. CFS shipments performed best, decreasing 6%. No information is available on the Canadian market but the Canada usually follows the U.S. market. With the expected Canadian tariffs the relationship between the Canadian and US markets may change.
