Lehmann Bookbinding Closing Down

 Fourth generation Lehmann Bookbinding is winding down. Their building has been sold off and now all the equipment is being sold. Started over 100 years old started in 1913 by German immigrant J.C. Lehmann. The bindery  specialized in servicing libraries across Canada. Since the pandemic, work for libraries has collapsed.

At one point Lehmann had a staff of over 70 and is now down to 10 employees. Soft and hard bound books were they main markets. Equipment included 5 sewing machines, 3 perfect binders, 15 station collator, several hot foil , 3 embossing and case making machines. They also did work for Law journals, text books, medical journals and presentation boxes.

Sorry to hear of the closing. Lehmann did outstanding work for me for many years binding and finishing my textbooks. Their attention to detail and eye for quality was outstanding and their customer service was always second to none. I will miss talking with Lisa and Rob.
