Data (DCM) Closing Three More Plants
BRAMPTON—
Data Communications Management(DCM) will be closing Fergus, Edmonton and Thistle Printing. The Moore Fergus, Ontario plant does long run business forms and the work will be moved to the Drummandville Quebec plant. About 80 union people will be let go. Moore Edmonton which does commercial printing will be closed and the work moved to the Calgary plant.
About 40 people will be let go. Thistle Printing in Toronto will be moved to the Graphikom (old MIL) plant with all 40 employees moving over . This all follows the announcement last week of the closing of the Trenton plant. DCM is looking at saving $20 to $30 million a year . DCM has became the third largest printer in Canada with sales of over $500 million. DCM will now have 15 plants across Canada including B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.
