TORONTO—
Second bindery to close in a month.
Second bindery to close in a month.
Fortescue Bindery closed its doors at the end of last week. A fixture in the Toronto market for 43 years. Fortescue main business came from high volume bindery jobs. The shrinking of higher volume printing and slowdown in business were given as reasons for the shutdown. The closure was volunteery and the family felt it was time.

The writing was on the wall. Fortescue once had a staff of over 50 was down to 18. The plant which they own was over 44,000 square feet. The company is debt free but was struggling to break even. This is the second bindary to close in the last month. TOS Bindery announced it was closing just last week.  No auction is planned and they are planning to sell the equipment off them selves.

The Fortescue family are great people! They were always great to me. Remembering the days on Barbados with Hoeny and Jo Sheehan. I wish everyone nothing but the very best!

That is sad news. I have nothing but good things to say about the team there. It was a pleasure dealing with Jimmy back in the day and more recently with Diane. Good luck to everyone going forward.
