Finland Paper Strike Causing Shortage
FINLAND—
UPM announced that strike action at its Finnish mills could be extended for a third time and by a further three weeks – until 12 March. The UPM strike is causing problems in the already pressurized paper supply chain. Industry experts says the serious industry-wide issues around paper price rises, extended lead times and the fact that some products
are having to be supplied on allocation due to shortages. UPM Finnish Paper Mills are a major supplier of printing papers in Europe. Which is causing a paper shortage in Europe which is effecting European mills shipments to Canada . UPM has not yet disclosed any estimates of how much the strike might cost.
