Ricoh invests in Avanti
TORONTO, TOKYO—Ricoh Company Ltd. has made a multimillion dollar investment in Avanti Computer Systems giving it an ownership stake in the MIS developer. The deal, announced today, closed at the end of June.
Under the terms of the arrangement, Ricoh will distribute the full portfolio of Avanti software products, including job costing, tracking and billing, scheduling, CRM, inventory management and direct mail management, and bundle them with Ricoh engines. Distribution will begin in Canada and the U.S. and will gradually expand worldwide, company reps told PrintCAN.
"Ricoh with Avanti is developing complete integrated solutions for our customers," Sam Hosoe, Ricoh spokesperson said. "This deal will expand our customer base and our reach and it will allow Avanti to expand to more customers around the world."
"This is a significant investment that ensures the long-term health of our company and our products," said Patrick Bolan, president of Avanti. "It will enable us to achieve faster growth and expand our reach globally." Avanti will continue to operate as an independent and autonomous enterprise and no employees are moving to Ricoh. But Avanti may find it will have to increase its staff as a result of the deal, Bolan said.
Until now, Ricoh customers had to buy third-party MIS systems or had to develop their own. For those existing customers that want to upgrade, Bolan said Avanti may be able to connect with existing software.
