PolyCello in N.S. earns Sustainable Green Printing certification
AMHERST, N.S.—Flexo printer PolyCello has just earned the Sustainable Green Printing (SGP) Certification from the Sustainable Green Printing Partnership, a U.S. based body that bases is certifications on the entire operation of a print shop.
“Our team meets regularly to determine methodologies for dealing with waste products and to curb emissions. We continually assess every aspect of our operations to identify opportunities to further reduce our environmental footprint,” said Frank Wilson, environmental health and safety coordinator for PolyCello.
To receive certification, print facilities must establish a sustainability management system; implement best practices in sustainability; and comply with local, state and federal employment laws, according to the release. Certified facilities are also required to use SGP’s sustainability metrics system to report on progress annually.
SGP describes itself as an independent, non-profit organization providing a certification label for sustainability in the graphic communications industry.
PolyCello, family-owned since 1956, serves the frozen food, food service, pet food, towel and tissue, and lawn and garden markets.
