DANVERS, MA—  Inkcups has launched a new laser plate-maker that is up to 20% faster. The Cobalt Pro+ is now the highest wattage laser available in the company’s Cobalt line. The machine is suitable for users that require both laser etching and plate-making capabilities, offering both CO₂ laser technology and an etching area of 460x640mm, and enabling etching of one large plate or multiple plates at once. The device offers high-resolution graphics up to 1,500dpi on a large variety of plates including DuraLaze and exposed polymer. The 30W laser can be used for engraving promotional products. A closed-loop DC servo motor ensured greater continuous shaft power at higher speeds than competitive lasers and also enabled greater accuracy (0.254mm or 0.1%) due to the continuous movement. The AutoFocus operations control feature adjusts to the precise focal point on the engraving area, which ensured accurate results. Plate-making and etching in a single system offering the flexibility of being able to create plates for pad printing and etch promotional products.
