HEIDELBERG, GERMANY—  Two major announcements mark the start of July at Heidelberg: the German manufacturer has completed the integration of Manroland Sheetfed?s operations and has signed an agreement to resume production of Polar systems. These two moves strengthen Heidelberg?s position in printing and packaging, according to  Jürgen Otto, CEO of Heidelberg. Announced just a week ago, the sale of the maintenance operations as well as the sales and service subsidiaries of manroland Sheetfed, their integration is proceeding as planned within Heidelberg. At the same time, Heidelberg announced the resumption of production and the development of Polar guillotines and systems, which handle loading and unloading, collating, cutting, die-cutting, and strapping operations?primarily for the packaging and label markets. Production of Polar systems will be gradually transferred to Heidelberg's industrial network. The Hofheim facility in Germany will continue to operate during a transitional period while this transfer is organized, prior to the sale of the property.
