MEMPHIS,—  International Paper announced the closures of two Georgia mills. The company is closing its containerboard mill and packaging facility in Savannah as well as its containerboard mill and timber and lumber facility in Riceboro. The combined changes will result in a net reduction of International Paper’s annual containerboard capacity by one million tons. In 2023 International Paper permanently close its containerboard mill in Orange, Texas and cease production on two of its pulp machines at other sites, reducing capacity by approximately 800,000 tonnes.
