IRVINE, CALIF—  Roland DGA has announced new ink and functionality enhancements for the Roland DG VersaSTUDIO BY-20 desktop DTF (direct-to-film) printer, according to a press release. Developed exclusively for DTF applications and to replace Roland DG’s original S-PG inks, the S-PG2 inks offer increased white ink density and ink laydown, allowing for greater vibrancy and opacity with fewer passes. They also stabilize performance by reducing clogs and improving ink flow across the full production cycle. S-PG2 inks dry faster than the previous formulations, which helps improve DTF powder adhesion and the wash durability of BY-20-produced output. In addition, the new inks and firmware are optimized for the BY-20’s print modes, unlocking greater consistency and more automation when paired with powder/shaker systems. These improvements expand the printer’s appeal to startups, home-based businesses and even screen printers looking for an efficient way to handle short-run jobs profitably.
