Spiral Binding, a manufacturer and worldwide distributor of a line of mechanical binding and laminating equipment is shuttering its operations in Illinois, California and North Jersey laying off 335 people.  Spiral Binding  is based in New Jersy and opened its doors in 1932 as the first mechanical binding equipment manufacturer in the North America and became a major player in the wire-binding field

with the development of new  wire equipment. Developed Spiralastic, a plastic coil wire that was designed to replace wire. In addition to Double-O Wire Spiral developed Spiral-O Wire. In 2007, Spiral Binding acquired the North American portion of James Burn International. Spiral acquired Bindomatic in Europe in 2017. The family company was bought by a Private Equity company about 10 years ago. No reason has been given for the closures.

the family company was bought by a private equity company......there is the reason for the closures. MORE $$$ if they sell the pieces off , real estate / etc .
