Agfa's Largest Division Now Digital Printing
MORTSEL, BELGIUM—
Sales at Agfa’s Digital Print & Chemicals wing were up 7.2% last year, with the unit taking over from Radiology Solutions as the group’s biggest business. The division grew to €438m ($700m) sales, including record top line from Digital Printing Solutions, while sales at Radiology Solutions were down 9.8% and Healthcare IT slipped by 3%. Sales were also up at Contractor Operations, which supplies products to ECO3, the former Agfa offset business, with sales up 10.1%.
Overall group sales were down 1.1% at €1.14bn ($1.76bn). At Digital Printing Solutions top line growth was 13%. Ink sales jumped by 15% on the back of Agfa’s ongoing push to convert Inca customers to Agfa inks.Agfa said it expected to build further momentum with its digital printing portfolio for the sign and display market segment this year, based on recent product launches and its global strategic partnership with EFI for certain large-format devices. The group described progress in the industrial and packaging segment as “solid” with this part of its business expected to make a positive contribution this year.
