Friesens Introduces Sprayed Edge Technology
ALTONA, MANITOBA—
Friesens has announced a brand-new addition to their printing capabilities: the Digi B Edge Printing Machine from Durrer! This allows printing on the edge of finished books, opening up a world of creative possibilities for our publishing partners. What makes the Digi B edge Printing Machine special is that it uses an inkjet head to print in four process colours, allowing them to produce vibrant colour images, intricate line work, and almost any design you can imagine.
Whether it’s printing around the rounded corners of a book, on top of gilded edges, or even on ragged foredges, this machine can handle it all with precision. The 115 year old company with 600 employee-owners serve publishers, schools, self-publishers, and consumer brands from their 350,000 sq. ft. facilities in Altona, Manitoba, Canada. A majority of their sales are south of the border. “As a 100% employee-owned company, the staff of Friesens and Friesen Press participate in the financial success of the company. This year, those rewards will exceed $3 Million and represent more than a 75% increase in employee-owner payments.
