‘2025 State of the Industry Survey"
MONTVALE, NEW JERSEY—
Ink World’s “State of the Industry” survey sought to identify the most pertinent trends and chal- lenges throughout the industry and the supply chain. They surveyed more than 300 industry profes- sionals. Here are some the results:

Most responders reported they saw growth this past year, with 29% noting they saw sales growth of greater than 5%, and 34% with 1 to 5% growth. We found that 12% saw zero growth, with 25% seeing a decline; of that, 10% reported a decline of 1 to 5% and 15% saw a decline of greater than 5%.

2) Which Markets Do You Expect Will See the Most Advancement Over the Next Two Years?Not surprisingly, 47% of our responders selected packaging printing, with 36% opting for digital printing. Publication and commercial printing (6%), textile printing (6%) and conductive printing (5%) also saw some interest.

This has become increasingly more of a challenge in recent years, with nearly half (44%) of re- sponders saying they are having difficulties in personnel and 42% saying that they are doing fine.
4) What is Most Concerning and/or Important to Your Customers? In talking about their customers, we found that 38% said that price was the biggest factor, followed by quality (32%) Supply chain was selected by 17%, with technical support at 8% and regulatory support/sustainability chosen by 5%.
5) Which Technologies Do You Predict Will Spur the Most Growth Over the Next Two Years?In this answer, responders could choose more than one answer. Digital packaging inks were selected as a growth area by 67% of our responders, with bio-based inks and functional inks each being chosen by 42%. Digital textile inks was selected by 25% or our responders.
6) What Segments Do You Expect to See the Strongest Future Growth in the Printing Ink Industry? Here again, packaging inks (sheetfed. flexo, and gravure) were chosen as the strongest growth area by 44%, with digital inks at 40%. Publication inks received 12% of the vote, with 4% opting for commercial offset inks.
