UPM Paper Closes Two More Paper Machines

Two more paper machines being closed down
Two more paper machines being closed down
 UPM one of the worlds largest paper mills, has permanently closed paper machine 6 at its Schongau site in Germany and paper machine 4 at Steyrermühl in Austria, taking out 485,000 tonnes of graphic paper capacity in Europe. Schongau mill 136 jobs affected at the site.The uncoated publication paper machine 6 will be permanently closed  but UPM said Schongau will continue graphic paper production

“on the remaining cost-competitive machines”. UPM Papers also ended newspaper production at its Steyrermühl mill. UPM is now accelerating its plans “to ensure competitive production at our remaining newsprint paper machines. Stora Enso, Canford, Island Papers , Arjowiggins, Domtar , Westrock and now UPM have all announced mill or machine shut downs this year
