Comic book publishers are being told that they cannot print new collections, large format books, or special items this year. That the numbers being requested to be printed need to be reduced, and release dates need to be pushed back further. The two major Canadian comic book printers are Transcontinental and Solisco both have said they are looking after current customers but are limited in taking on new business because of paper supply limitations.

Publishers of saddle-stitched books (standard comic books with staples) are saying that printing plants that have never printed comics before are being approached . Publisher say  that collections are taking weeks longer than usual and all their hardcovers have been pushed till next year.  Supply chain problems across the publishing industry have been created because North American printing is largely being impacted by paper and labor shortages. And that overseas printing (primarily Asia) is being impacted by shipping and port issue  delays. The  demand for printed comic book has  been growing but limitations on paper and press time may slow demand.
