Ontario and P.E.I. Printers Sell Orange Shirts For Residential School Survivors
LONDON , P.E.I.—
Two printers, Mi'kmaq Printing and Design of P.E.I. and another Rezonance Printing of London Ontario have been printing and selling Orange shirts supporting the residential school survivors . "We have been printing non-stop," said Adam Sturgeon, operator of Rezonance Printing, who is working in partnership with Atlohsa Family Healing Services and a local Indigenous artist to get shirts out, with proceeds going to a good cause.
This is the fourth year Mi'kmaq Printing and Design of P.E.I.has been selling the shirts. The first year they sold 1,000, and three times that number last year. This year it looks like it will much higher . The orders are connected to the news of hundreds of unmarked graves found on the grounds of former residential schools in B.C. and Saskatchewan. The call to wear them on Canada Day to raise awareness about the lasting impact of residential schools and stand in solidarity with the Indigenous community.
