Xerox Layoffs In Canada and US.
ROCHESTER, NY—
Xerox is cutting staff in Canada and the US. It will include software engineers, system engineers, program managers, finance managers and support staff. The number of staff being laid off Xerox would not disclose. The number of layoffs in Canada Xerox declined to comment. Second quarter results were down from last year to $2.51 billion ( off 2,2%) and net income was down to $114 million from $170 million
.
John Visentin became CEO of Xerox after a failed merger with Fuji earlier this year. Visentin has had senior positions at HP and IBM has been under pressure to plot a new course for Xerox and increase shareholder value. He has said the company is not looking to auction process or looking to find a buyer for the business. Visentin has said the goal is a " relentless focus on optimization".
