Book printing sees growth
GERMANY—
The future of bookstores looking good. For years, speculation was rife that digital markets such as e-books would result in the death of the print industry and subsequently the closure of bookstores. But the opposite appears to have happened, as thanks to our younger generation, business is booming. At the opening of the Frankfurt Book Fair in Germany, Penguin Random House CEO Markus Dohle confirmed that book markets have seen "growth in most countries"
.Dohle said one contributing factor to financial stability was the now "healthy co-existence" of the print and digital markets, with print accounting for 80 per cent of sales and digital only 20 per cent." People are coming back for hard copies, they want to come into a bookshop, people aren't talking about e-books anymore.
