RR Donnelley to adopt Annan & Bird
MISSISSAUGA, ON—An agreement last week by which RR Donnelley will acquire Consolidated Graphics includes Annan & Bird Lithographers, a Canadian outfit that was acquired by Consolidated Graphics in 2006.

Annan & Bird will retain its name, but the tag "A Consolidated Graphics Company" will be changed to "An RR Donnelly Company."

The agreement between RR Donnelley and Consolidated Graphics was announced Oct. 24. According to a release, the US$620 million transaction was unanimously approved by each company's Board of Directors, and its completion is subject to customary closing conditions including regulatory approval and approval of Consolidated Graphics’ shareholders.

"This strategic combination will complement the RR Donnelley platform and further enhance our ability to provide integrated communications solutions for our valued clients across all industry verticals," said Thomas J. Quinlan III, RR Donnelley's president and chief executive officer.

With Annan & Bird under its wing, RR Donnelly will adopt considerable POP/display, large-format expertise in Canada. Annan & Bird has specialized in the sector since 1987 with equipment including the only 81" KBA Rapida 205 in Canada, a 64" Heidelberg Speedmaster 162, and a 64" KBA Rapida 162.

Headquartered in Houston, Consolidated Graphics is a commercial printer with locations across the U.S. and in Japan, Prague and Toronto. RR Donnelly is a global provider of integrated communications whose Canadian locations include printing and logistics facilities in Vancouver, Edmonton, Fergus, Mississauga, Toronto, Oshawa, Trenton, Cowansville, and Montreal.
