Mi5 holds open house for 10th anniversary
MARKHAM, ON—Celebrating 10 years in business plus a recent purchase and office restructuring, Mi5 Print & Digital Communications held an open house party and tour for its customers.

"It was an opportunity to mix and mingle with clients in a more social atmosphere that was fun and entertaining," said Sheryl Sauder, vice-president of sales and target marketing.

The company overhauled its facilities at the end of the year, opening up 3,500 more sq. ft. of plant space by moving most of its administration department upstairs, bringing the prepress division downstairs, and bringing its large-format department up front to make more room for shipping in back.

"We were trying to reclaim as much plant space as we could," Sauder said. Now the digital department, small digital and large-format, are all one department, which makes cross-training easier between platforms.

The company also recently installed a 40" Heidelberg CD 102 UV + 6 colour machine.

Clients and prospective clients who attended the open house earlier in May were able to tour the facility, which includes bindery, 40" presses, and equipment for small digital and large-format prepress. Party wares doubled as samples of the company's work, with casino-themed window dressings showing off its decal capabilities, and boxes for the candy bar demonstrating its packaging work.

Mi5 Print & Digital Communications was founded by Derek McGeachie as a prepress operation, and now offers digital printing, wide format, fulfillment and interactive services. Its mergers and acquisitions over the years have included BPG Graphic Solutions, Markham Offset, and Spectracolor.
