Rhino Print Solutions buys Marcam Cross Media
TORONTO—Rhino Print Solutions has acquired Marcam Cross Media, extending the B.C. company's reach into Eastern Canada and widening its capabilities in print-on-demand and multi-channel marketing.
The Toronto facility joins Rhino's existing operations in Vancouver and Calgary. The move to increase regional printing allows for tighter turnaround times and shorter and cheaper freight shipping, said a company release.
According to a statement from David Allan, Rhino's president and chief executive officer, the company is now "uniquely positioned to provide high-quality colour-managed print-on-demand to Canadian businesses nation-wide."
Allan (pictured on left) told PrintCAN that he will carry on as head of the organization, and will also be relocating to Toronto to lead the local management team. Moving forward, Marcam Cross Media will take on the name Rhino Print Solutions. All employees were retained in the transaction.
"We are excited to be joining the award-winning Rhino team," added Matthew Marczak, whose role shifts from Marcam president to vice-president of sales, Toronto. "We know for certain that our clients will admire Rhino's relentless pursuit of quality and appreciate the new, broader national scope that is now achievable with an east to west print network," he said in the release.
Marcam was founded in 1971 and specializes in offset, digital and multi-channel print marketing. According to supplier Sydney Stone, it was the first Canadian printer to buy a Morgana Digifold 5000P. Rhino, purchased by Allan in 2001, serves the advertising, design, corporate, publishing and institutional markets.
