PrePress MD offers advice to printers and designers
TORONTO—A new site called PrePress MD aims to ease communication between print designers and print suppliers, providing tips and answering questions about file prep, colour management, packaging layout and more.

"We are the prepress gurus that call you at 11:00 pm looking for fonts or missing images," reads the site. "Understanding print is the key to ensuring that design is never compromised by the limitations of the printing process."

The free online forum is backed by over 100 prepress professionals volunteering from around the world to answer any and all queries, whether about digital printing, silkscreen, flexo, litho, and more. Laura Bowman of M&T Printing Group in Ontario, Michelle Comeau of Vintage Junkie in New Brunswick, and Louis Dery of Quebec's Asystel are among the Canadians included.

The site's coordinator is Toronto's Doug Shaw, retired senior manager of creative services at MolsonCoors in Toronto, and chief executive officer and creative director at Doctor Grafix. According to Shaw, more features are in the works including an FAQ library and a monthly tutorial series.
