Mississauga printer to install J Press from Fujifilm
MISSISSAUGA—Canada is getting its first Fujifilm J Press 720, to be installed at Digital Edge Print and Media Services, a Mississauga-based commercial printer specializing in variable printing and direct mail.

The J Press closes the gap between a digital press and a 4-up offset press. "There's nothing in the middle class," said Jason Farmer, vice president of Digital Edge. "The J Press offers the same speed as digital, but with the quality of offset. There's no wasted paper, plates, or chemicals."

The J Press will allow Digital Edge to print a short run of boxes on a maximum stock weight of 350 gsm, variable postcards in 16-up configuration and variable posters at an affordable price.

The J Press 720 is a 29-inch sheetfed press, and is able to print 2,700 sheets per hour on standard coated and uncoated papers.

The new press at Digital Edge is expected to be operational in mid-March. The first J-Press in North America was installed at Gilson Graphics in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
