Printing bankruptcies drop in 2010
OTTAWA—The number of Canadian printing bankruptcies dropped significantly in 2010 after the industry took a beating in 2009.
The federal Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcies reports that 26 printers shut down in 2010. Of that number, 14 were in Ontario, eight in Quebec, two in Alberta and two in British Columbia.
That number is down from 56 bankruptcies in 2009, according to a federal office report.
Including printing support firms (prepress, bindery), the bankruptcy tally for 2010 is 28 bankruptcies, compared to 62 for 2009.
