HALIBURTON, ON—Patient News Publishing is the only Canadian shop to win a WhatTheyThink Environmental Innovation Award. The awards program, which is in its first year, is presented in partnership with Unisource Worldwide and the Unisource Respect Printers Program.

Patient News, which designs, prints, publishes and distributes dental newsletters to dentists in Canada, the U.S., and the U.K., was recognized for being a green company that is involved in an environmentally progressive community program. The company only uses FSC paper and vegetable-based inks, recycles and composts, and has an in-house environmental committee, production manger Dave Howe told PrintCan.

He said the shop also started a community program, called Catching Green, where local business get together to share green experiences, and learn how to incorporate them into their companies.

Patient News Publishing has been in business since 1992, and owns two Ryobi 4-colour presses, and an HP Indigo 5000. It employs 70 people and produces 10 million newsletters annually.
