Trafford Publishing sold to U.S. Author Solutions
VICTORIA, B.C.—Trafford Publishing has been purchased by U.S.-based self-publisher Author Solutions, the company announced today.

Trafford provides self-publishing and print-on-demand at its B.C. facility, and has published more than 15,000 authors from dozens of countries.  It acquired Vancouver Island print shop and bindery Morriss Printing in 2007, and installed a Lasermax Roll Systems RS Stack system.

Kevin Weiss, Author Solutions CEO, told PrintCan that the printing facility will remain, and Trafford’s CEO will stay on board as head of the Morris Printing Group. Weiss said the fate of Trafford’s 95 employees isn’t clear at this time, but he does plan to add more people to his team in Indiana, and possibly to its other plant in the Philippines. “The intent is for all ships to rise with the tide,” he added. Author Solutions’ printing is currently handled by a variety of shops across the U.S.

Trafford was launched in 1995, and it also has a small operation in Oxford, England.
