OTTAWA—

Canada Post workers have voted overwhelmingly in favour of a strike amid a labour dispute that will disrupt mail deliveries. The question is will it be a rotating strike or a complete shut down? The Canadian Union of Postal Workers said that there has been “no progress” after almost a year of bargaining new contracts for the urban operations unit and the rural and suburban mail carriers unit.
Canada Post has been trying to increase direct mail. Possible strike dos not help.

The Union will be in a legal strike position as of November 3 if no agreement is reached. There is a reasonable chance of a strike. The union is calling for wage increases and better working conditions, including improved staffing and health benefits as well as paid meal and rest periods for workers working five hours or more.  About  60% to 70% of every thing that is printed goes through the mail. A larger percent of Canada Post volume is direct mail with a continual shrinking volume of letter mail.

Hey union workers, printing is depleting fast, striking ultimately hurts your job security even more, along with increasing postage rates. Marketers are at the end of their tether with all this. Be thankful you have a job that is better than most out there with the same skill set!
