The closure of St. John's facility leaves Newfoundland and Labrador as the only province without the ability to print newspapers. Saltwie absorbed the former Robinson-Blackmore chain of community papers, and printing operation. Saltwire the largest newspaper publisher went into receivership earlier this year. The newspapers were sold to Postmedia but the printing plants were not part of the deal.
