 WestRock and Smurfit Kappa have now confirmed that they are going to combine to create Smurfit WestRock, a global packaging giant. The companies state that combining Smurfit Kappa and WestRock’s highly complementary paper-based packaging companies will create a global leader in sustainable packaging. Smurfit Kappa and WestRock generated combined last twelve months’ adjusted annual revenue of approximately $34bn,

which would make Smurfit WestRock the largest listed global packaging company by revenue. Westrock Canada has plants in Alberta, Saskatchewan , Manitoba , Ontario and Quebec for a total of 12  in Canada. They produce folding cartons, corrugated and specialty packaging.  Smurfit Kappa currently operate across 36 countries globally and employs 47,000 people. WestRock employs just over 50,000 staff and works in more than 30 countries.
