Scholarship announced For British Columbia
VANCOUVER—
Canadian Print Scholarships is pleased to announce that the Canadian Printing Industries Scholarships awarded to students in the Graphic Communications Technology Management Program at BCIT have been named for the following British Columbia print industry leaders. Rachel Cheung awarded the Gary Baines In Memoriam Scholarship Garry was the Executive Director of the BCPIA from 1989 to 1995 and was the inspiration for the establishment of the organization’s student scholarships.
His legacy of a sustained commitment to ongoing education initiatives
has been an inspiration to many.Tanner Hockey awarded the John Kouwenhoven In Memoriam Scholarship John was a founding partner of Hemlock Printers and a strong advocate for regional training in the print industry. He served at length on the BCPIA board and was known for his commitment to helping individuals achieve their personal best. Madison Mills awarded the Peter Purcell In Memoriam Scholarship Peter established Inter-City Papers in Vancouver in 1984 and had a career in print that spanned 40 years, including an extended role as a Market Development Specialist. He is recognized as a dedicated leader, committed family man, inveterate golfer and the ultimate salesman.
