Polar Forced Into Creditor Protection
HOFHEIM, GERMANY—
A slump in sales has threatened solvency and has have forced guillotine manufacturer Polar to seek court protection in order to restructure. Supply chain delays especially critical components have significantly reduced sales. The privately owned German manufacturer said that delivery delays and bottlenecks for components such as controls had hit production, resulting in delays to orders and the firm being unable to ship machines.
Most of Polar sales are exported, and the Company has a distribution agreement with Heidelberg. All 380 employees remain and the business will continue to operate. Polar is largest world manufacture of cutters to the printing industry. Polar also sells under the Mohr brand.
