Konica Minolta Toner Shortage Could Run Into 2022
TATSUNO, JAPAN—
Last month Konica Minolta warned that toner production at its Tatsuno plant in Japan would not resume until November, following two separate incidents at the plant in July and August involving a fire and an explosion. Tatsuno Japan makes the patented Simitri HD polymerised toner used in KM’s high-end production digital presses.
It could be next year before Konica Minolta customers have toner supplies restored, and the manufacturer is now losing some sales of equipment to competitors Ricoh, Canon and Xerox. Different regions in the world appear to be affected differently on supply shortages .
