Ricter Web Closing December 21st.

After forty-three years Ricter Web is winding down its printing operations. Ricter Web is a  cold set printer that specialized in printing community newspapers for independent publishers. They blame the closure on declining print work available. The last print run will be on December 21st. The company started in 1975 has about 100 employees in a 55,000 square foot plant. In 2015 they had sales of about $13 million.

They also have a sheet feed press that is  used for covers and a stitcher for bound publications. They also have a logistics company CTS Logistics.  They are turning over all there contact work to Metroland the community newspaper division of the Toronto Star. Metroland has several printing plants.Some staff may transfer over to Metroland.  Not all customers have said they will move over to Metroland. Some compete with Metroland newspapers in various markets. Calls to  Ricter Web were not returned .
