Printcan's top stories of 2015
TORONTO—A rebranding, several acquisitions and a closure; we’ve checked our stats and have pulled together the 10 stories that saw the most traffic on Printcan this year.

And they are:

 
10. TI Group rebrands with new logo, tagline
TI Group changes its logo and tagline to better reflect the change and growth its experienced over the last five years, which includes an increase in sales and several acquisitions.

 
9. Metro Label acquired by Tapp Label
Tapp Label acquires Metro Label, a producer of custom label and printed label products. This was Tapp Label’s fourth major acquisition in less than a year. Metro Label kept its named for its Toronto-based customers.


 
8. Menasha Corporation acquires Brampton-based PearceWellwood Inc.
Menasha Corporation acquires PearceWellwood Inc., and an ownership interest in Tencorr Packaging, a corrugated sheet manufacturer in Mississauga and Brampton.


 
7. Transcontinental suspends employee for heckling during print awards
During the OPIA 2015 Excellence in Print Awards a Transcontinental employee caused quite the disturbance during a comedian’s performance, causing said comedian to leave the stage.



 
6. CNG acquires Spicers Canada
Central National-Gottesman Inc., acquires Spicers Canada, a primary distributor of fine paper, sign and display media, industrial packaging and graphic art supplies.








 
5. Ever-Reddy Packaging Shutters Operations
Ever-Reddy files a declaration of bankruptcy on May 19, 2015. The company was established in 1953 and started out as a supplier to the music industry, printing album jackets.


 
4. J.F Moore Lithographers files notice of proposal under Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act
J.F. Moore files a NOI, but remains in operation. The company also celebrated its 30th anniversary this year.



 
3. MET Fine Printers acquires Rhino Print's Calgary facility
MET Fine printers purchases select Rhino Print Solutions assets, including its Calgary facility, which has been integrated into MET’s operations.





 
2. Four printers make the Profit 500 List
Impressions Printing, Mabel’s Labels, Mi5 Print & Digital and Beneco Packaging make the annual Profit 500 list.








 
1. JF Moore and Mi5 to merge
JF Moore and Mi5 merge, as of August 1. JF Moore becomes a division of Mi5 Print & Digital Communications and relocates to Markham, ON.
