Winners announced for the 33rd annual Gutenberg Gala
MONTREAL—On May 15, almost 300 print industry insiders gathered at the Montreal Science Centre to honour the best among them during the 33rd annual Gutenberg Gala.

"This year, the committee was given the mandate to carry the gala across Quebec, and I am pleased that several companies have answered the call,” André Goyette, CEO, Imprimerie Contact Netpak-Division and Chairman of Gutenberg said. “The Competition pushes boundaries and responds to the challenges raised by the talent and creativity of companies, communication agencies and printed Quebec buyers, regardless of company size.”

According to Michel Beaulieu, sales rep for Heidelberg and organizing committee member, documents received in the packaging and flexo categories grew this year, as did the display category. “Interest in the competition and the Gala continues to grow, and we are very pleased,” he said.

The Gutenberg Gala committee has also added a new category to next year’s awards: flexible packaging. The new category is for any project printed on flexible or expandable film, including plastic containers, lids, resealable plastic bags, bags, or shrink packaging.  With this additional the awards will now have 17 categories total.

The 2015 winners are: 

Innovation winners:
  • Publishing: Cirque du Soleil TOTEM Souvenir Programme byL’Empreinte
  • Finishing: Le Grand Soir 2014 by Stylex 3D
  • Customer Marketing: Au Point Reprotech, promoting Perrywinkle’s ring.
  • Marketing, Auto Promotion: Still Spinning Thesis After All Years by TC Transcontinental Direct, Acme-Ross Ellis
  • Packaging: EPICA Retrospect 10th Anniversary by TC Transcontinental Direct Acme-Ross Ellis
  • Display: Display Berlingot Natrel by TC Transcontinental Quebec.

Technical winners:
  • Books: Empowering Global Citizenship by L’Empreinte
  • Magazines: Beatles Love by PDI Integrated Printing Solutions
  • Newspapers: First Edition - The City of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield by VIVA-Média.ca
  • Finishing: Foil FX Selector (Second Edition) by Gravure Choquet
