Unisource opens entries for Uvu Design and Print Excellence awards
Unisource Canada, Inc., the leading national distributor of commercial printing and imaging papers and a part of Unisource Worldwide, Inc., is pleased to announce the call for entries for the 2014 Unisource Canada National Design and Print Excellence  Awards (Uvu).

“The Uvu Unisource Design and Print Excellence Awards highlight the best in Canadian design and print,” said Susan Corbeil, Director of Specification Sales for Unisource Canada. “To distinguish themselves from the crowd, studios and printers need to produce great work.  Our Uvu Award Catalogue program provides an opportunity for winners to celebrate with existing clients while broadening their exposure with potential clients.”

Entries will be reviewed in July and judged in 17 separate categories.  Judges will make decisions based on design excellence, communication strategy, print quality and appropriateness of paper, and use of photography, illustration, and typography.

Slated to review the entries are a panel of five judges:

·        Dave Watson, Creative Director Design, North America, Taxi Canada, Toronto
·        Claude Auchu, Partner, VP, Creative Director Design, Lg2boutique, Montreal
·        Kim Ridgewell, Senior Designer, 123West, Vancouver
·        Rod Roodenburg, Partner, Ion Brand Design, Vancouver
·        Rod Honig, Creative Director, Trigger, Calgary

Submitted entries must be printed on paper purchased from Unisource Canada in full or in major part between June 17, 2013 and June 21, 2014.  Deadline for submissions is June 26, 2014.  Please visit www.unisourcedesign.ca/uvu to download an entry form and view detailed information on submissions and guidelines.

Award entry participants will be competing for a unique opportunity to showcase their work in the Unisource Uvu travelling exhibit, which will visit Canadian cities Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, and Vancouver later this year.  In addition, all entrants to the competition will receive a Unisource Uvu Winners Catalogue.

The Uvu Call for Entry brochure was designed by Carter Hales Design Lab of Vancouver and printed by Vancouver’s Metropolitan Fine Printers on Neenah Paper Classic Laid Avalanche White text.
