Domtar Sells Personal Care Business To Enter Containerboard Market
FORT MILL, SOUTH CAROLINA—
Domtar has announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its Personal Care business to American Industrial Partners for $920 million. Domtar has said it is reinforcing its focus on building an industry-leading Paper, Pulp and Packaging company. Domtar has decided to enter the containerboard market. The Kingsport, Tennessee mill is being converted to continerboard, with the ability to produce approximately 600,000 tons
of high-quality recycled linerboard and corrugated medium, by the end of 2022. The Company will have a strategic entry point to build an up to 2.5 million ton business and become a long-term strategic supplier to the packaging industry. Domtar is now a pure-play pulp & paper company, and expects to become a sizable N.A. containerboard producer in the years to come.
Originally owned by Mead, sold to Weyerhaeuser than bought by Domtar
